Bridge on Antioch Church Road to close Monday

A bridge in Clinch County will be closed Monday for an estimated 180 days.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT), the bridge at Surveyors Creek, 11 miles southeast of Homerville on Antioch Church Road, is scheduled to close Monday, February 17 for 180 days.
The contractor, Southern Concrete Construction Company, will prepare and maintain the detour around the closure, which utilizes Antioch Church Road, US 441 and US 84. Motorists can access residences in the area up to the work zone. For the safety of the public, unauthorized personnel and motorized vehicles are not permitted in the construction zone.
This $2.2 million project will replace the current weight restricted bridge built in 1963. If the weather cooperates, the project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
The majority of bridges in Georgia are locally owned. Georgia DOT’s Low Impact Bridge Program and Local Bridge Replacement Program helps local governments replace deficient bridges. For more information on those programs, go to http://www.dot.ga.gov/IS/BridgePrograms.
