Smith resigns as Probate Court Judge – office closes temporarily

The Clinch County Probate Court is closed for the rest of the week after the resignation of Probate Court Judge Kimberly Smith.

Smith resigned Monday. She was in her second term of office, starting another four-year term on January 1, 2025. Interim Probate Court Judge Chase Daughtrey, the elected Probate Court Judge of Cook County, stated in an a “Declaration of Judicial Emergency” today, that the office is closed today and will reopen on Friday, March 21. According to the order, the “nature of the emergency is to complete an internal review of records, processes, and procedures.”
