Police: Homerville
man aims at dog,
shoots neighbor
An accidental shooting Monday afternoon sent a Homerville man to the hospital.
Joshua Troupe, 39, was walking on his front porch at his West Forrest Avenue residence Monday when he was struck by a bullet in the arm, according to Homerville Police Chief Mark Register. A brief investigation led to neighbor Alfred Clarkson, 51, who told police he was attempting to shoot a dog at about the same time Troupe was shot. Register said Clarkson, also of a West Forrest Avenue address, was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm in the city limits, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Monday afternoon.
Register said Troupe was taken to Clinch Memorial Hospital after the shooting, then transferred to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta Monday afternoon.
