Long-time pastor
Talmadge Guess
passes away

The "Dean of Clinch County preachers" passed away Wednesday.
Rev. Talmadge Guess, 74, died Wednesday after a long illness and an extensive career in pastoring the community.
"Brother Talmadge" was an ordained preacher at 17 and served as a minister for 57 years, including 40-plus years at Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. During his time in Clinch County, he also was a school bus driver for 23 years and a master plumber in the community.
"He was the anchor for this community," said Rev. James Davis of Homerville United Methodist Church, who spoke at the funeral. "He was the go-to guy. He knew everybody, and loved everbody. He will be missed tremendously."
The funeral was held Saturday at his church, Homerville Congregational Methodist Church, and interment was at Pine Forest Cemetery.
